So this blog has been collecting dust I think we can all agree. I know saying I've been moving house is still not a very good excuse but honestly, it's been way harder then I thought! Anyways, I'm back now with a fresh start as I'm not happy with the content I have been uploading. So today's post is more of a chatty one because I've become more aware of teens being insecure about their weight, so I wanted to talk about that.
More then half the population of the world are not happy with their weight. To be honest, I don't think I will ever look in the mirror and say 'I'm happy with how I look' and honestly I don't think people even do that anymore. Being 13, peer pressure is a thing happening all around me, and I watch it happen almost everyday. But something I have been becoming aware of recently is our age being obsessed with their weight. And most of this is due to other peoples opinion or people's role models.
The most common thing is people thinking their 'fat.' I'm just gonna put this out there, to me there isn't such thing as fat. The word fat doesn't come out of my mouth and I don't think anyone should use the words fat, large or heavy when judging somebody's appearance. Nobody is ever happy about their appearance so if in your opinion you think your 'large' and in other people opinion they think your large that's going to make you feel ten times worse. And that's the problem. Teens are quick to judge, I mean what happened to don't judge a book by it's cover? Immediately, teens dislike anybody bigger than them and that is not fair. Everyday I watch people giving dirty looks to the girl over there because shes not got the slimmest body in the world. Nobody should set a standard and nobody should have to try and meet a standard. We are all our own person which makes us 'us' if all of us were flat surely everything would just be boring? We would all be clones. Boring clones. Do you know what I find really disgusting? A girl in my year tries to hide when she gets changed for PE because she's scared people will laugh at her. That's terrible. She should be full of confidence and should embrace how she looks because honestly, I think some girls should look up to her. She manages to carry on through all the whispering around her and I idolise her for that. The point I'm trying to get across here is that nobody should have to worry that their bigger then others because just because your larger it doesn't mean your not beautiful. And I know sometimes when people make their opinion on you due to your appearance it can be upsetting but that doesn't mean your not beautiful. Your beautiful to the rest of the world. We all have flaws, imperfections and without them we wouldn't be whole. So if you feel like the person who has to hide in the corner, or the girl that can't eat anything at lunch in front of anyone stop. If they don't appreciate you for who you are they deserve the same respect back. So hold your head high and stay strong because your beautiful.
Now another thing which is really bugging me is 'skinny' people. Skinny, to me is as bad as fat, it means your judging someone and that's not fair. The thing about teenagers is that there are too many people obsessed with being perfect. They need every little feature to be perfect, when in reality if somebody doesn't love you for who you are, why are you bothering to change? You are you. No changing. Nothing. Now I'm going to give you another example again because this ones a lot harder to explain; I have a close friend and she is quite bony. She has a high metabolism, which means she can eat loads and not really gain anything. People tease her for this and without realising it call her anorexic. This girl is considered 'popular' and I think I'm the only one that can see it upsets her a lot. In the popular lot we have quite a lot of people with curves and because this girl is quite flatter and bonier then them they all look down on her. I know she feels like an outsider when these conversations pop up and it's really sad to see someone so happy and confident get sad because of someone saying she doesn't look healthy and she looks anorexic. I think that's just as bad as calling someone large.
To be honest, I think most of the reasons people are feeling so much peer-pressure on feeling perfect is because of role models. Yes I am looking at people like models and Nicki Minaj. People like Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss and models on Vogue are some of the reason why people feel like they should be skinny. This isn't their fault, but they're constantly photoshopped and made out to be something their not which makes other people aspire to look like them. Which can't happen without the professional tools. I think people look up to these celebs as role models which is fair enough but because of the editors peer-pressure falls more onto teens then it actually should and it gets to the point where personally, I think it needs to stop.
Another example, is my Nicki Minaj and Megan Trainor example. So we all know the new Nicki Minaj single 'Anaconda.' It's something we would expect from Nicki Minaj, basically her embracing her bum and her curves which may I add are not real. Cool. I don't have a problem with this but when she says things like; f*** them skinny b****** in the club it makes people insecure. People should be happy with the way they look and fair enough, Minaj obviously is happy with the way she looks but she doesn't have to put other people down while in the process of praising herself. Honestly, she gives out the wrong message. Then, there's the popular song 'all about that bass' by Megan Trainor. Before you all start calling me a hypocrite, just because I sing this song most of the time it does not mean I can't disapprove of the lyrics, because I do. As much as I love this song as most of the public do I can't help but notice the horrible comment or two she makes. Fair enough, make people with different sizes feel good about themselves by all means, do that but while your doing that do you really have to make horrible comments to smaller sizes. The lyric 'go ahead and tell them skinny b****** that,' makes me feel so appalled and the way she said it and I don't think anyone should have to feel this way. Even though, Megan Trainors lyric was non-intentional it still does hurt people listening which I think all celebrities need to be careful of.

Last but not least, I just want to say if you are one of the people, giggling at the girl in the corner because she's a bigger size then you, or because she's a lot smaller then you, sit back and question am I being fair? Because is what your doing actually intentional? And one more thing, think before you speak because you could end up saying something quite nasty. So that is it me lovelies, I hope I didn't bore you too much I just thought i should of got my point across.
Love you all
